CHICAGO — Needing an offensive jolt, Carlos Mendoza is shaking up the lineup.
The Mets manager moved Carson Benge into the leadoff spot and Francisco Lindor to third for Friday’s matinee against the Cubs at Wrigley Field.
The move comes as the Mets look to snap an eight-game losing streak. The Mets were averaging 1.5 runs during the skid.
Lindor appeared to get on track Tuesday with a two-hit game, including a homer, against the Dodgers. But a day later he went 0-for4 with two strikeouts. He began Friday’s game in Chicago with a .577 OPS.

Benge brings speed to the leadoff spot, but the rookie has struggled to get on track offensively. He began the day with a .464 OPS.
