HBO just dropped an unexpected The Gilded Age Season 4 new update for fans in a massive teaser featuring never-before-seen footage of everyone’s favorite New York City socialites.
HBO Max confirmed The Gilded Age Season 4 will be premiering in 2026 in a Coming Soon spot that offers fans a sneak peek at the upcoming lineup of HBO original series and documentaries coming out later this year.
The teaser, which can be watched at the top of this page, includes a glimpse at Carrie Coon‘s Bertha Russell offering some sage advice. “Life’s meaning isn’t where we came from. It’s where we’re going,” she says. The new HBO trailer also features a sneak peek at Ben Ahlers‘ Jack Trotter and Denée Benton‘s Peggy Scott.
The new season will pick up after The Gilded Age Season 3 saw Bertha set her sights on a prize that will place the Russells at the top of New York City society during the American Gilded Age. Meanwhile, Peggy finally found love in a handsome doctor, resulting in an unexpected marriage proposal.
The Gilded Age Season 4 summary reads, “Bertha Russell changed Society at a cost. Now, her family must reckon with the consequences as Agnes van Rhijn seizes an opportunity to regain her position. Meanwhile, Marian forges a new path for herself, and Peggy works to be accepted by her future in-laws. In this new era, you must be careful what you wish for.”
When does Gilded Age return?
The Gilded Age Season 4 release date has not yet been announced. However, actor Lucas Iverson recently shared filming for the first four episodes is currently underway and could be continuing “later in the summer,” per TV Insider, which could indicate that fans should expect The Gilded Age Season 4 in late 2026.
The original drama has become an unexpected hit for the network. According to HBO, The Gilded Age Season 3 saw a 20 percent growth in viewership compared to the previous season. The series was renewed before Season 3 had even finished airing in 2025.
Francesca Orsi, HBO’s head of drama series and films, called The Gilded Age a “cant-miss it” experience for fans when the show was renewed.
“We couldn’t be prouder of the undeniable viewership heights THE GILDED AGE has achieved this season. Transporting us to 1880s New York City, Julian Fellowes and the enormously talented cast and crew have created a ‘cant-miss it’ entertainment experience from week to week, and we’re delighted to continue exploring these characters’ grand ambitions for what we promise will be a thrilling fourth season,” she said.
The Gilded Age cast includes Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, Simon Jones, Cynthia Nixon, Chrisitne Baranski and more.
Jim Gaffigan, Dallas Roberts, Elizabeth Marvel and Andrew BUrnap will also be joining the cast in Season 4.
