This 103-year-old Hollywood Hills estate — formerly owned by pop star Katy Perry — is one of the priciest rentals the City of Angels has ever seen.
The double-gated compound, known as the Park Hill Estate, is currently on the market at a $275,000 per month. (The price can increase to $395,000 month depending on the season and what is happening in LA at the time, brokers say.)
The estate sits on 3 acres, with views of the city skyline and the ocean, and is in walking distance from the Sunset Strip and Chateau Marmont.
The only property currently asking more is a $500,000 rental on Lawlen Way in Beverly Hills, broker Patrick Michael of Serhant told The Post, who shares the listing with the estate’s co-owner, Sarah LaRose Doumani, of LA Estate Brokerage.
(Doumani married the estate’s current owner, Las Vegas hotel developer Lorenzo Doumani, on the grounds of the estate last year.)
First owned by real estate developer C.F. DeWitt in 1923, the sprawling compound, at 8159 Hollywood Blvd., was later owned by pioneering music producer/publisher Ralph Peer — whose legendary events were attended by Rat Pack stars Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., Lorenzo said.
The property has since hosted a galaxy of stars including Grammy-winning musicians Drake and Adele, who had her birthday party there, as well as Oscar-winning actor Daniel Kaluuya, actor/comedian Kevin Hart, race car driving champ Lewis Hamilton and top athletes such as the NBA’s Karl-Anthony Towns and Jimmy Butler, sources familiar with the property told Gimme Shelter.
In 2011, Perry and her then-husband, Russell Brand, bought Park Hill Estate for $6.5 million — but never moved in. Perry, however, used it for yoga and Pilates and slept in a greenhouse that has since been demolished, Lorenzo said. He added that when Brand bought the property, the greenhouse was a mess.
(Brand has been accused of multiple cases of rape and sexual abuse. He currently faces three counts of rape, three charges of sexual assault and one allegation of indecent assaultt from six women alleging crimes during the time frame of 1999 to 2009. The London trial is slated to begin this October in London.)
By 2013, Perry and Brand had divorced, and sold the property at a loss for $5.56 million to Lorenzo.
While this is not the highest-priced rental for Beverly Hills or Bel-Air, it is a record for the Hollywood Hills, brokers say.
Fully renovated, the compound has been reimagined for modern luxury living. It includes a total of nine bedrooms, 11 baths and two powder across the living spaces — including the Mediterranean-style main house, a two-story pool house and a detached casita.
The mansion, which is near Frank Lloyd Wright’s famed Storer House, was designed by architect Charles Kyson. It features a 45-foot cathedral-style living room, cut stone walls and marble imported from Florence. Recent renovations, including large windows that showcase stunning views and let in light, have reimagined the space for modern living.
The grounds include a resort-style infinity-edge pool and spa, and a pickleball court. There’s also an indoor-outdoor gym, a cold plunge, an infrared sauna and steam room, and a home theater.
“We took the roof off the home and redid the entire property. It would have been easier to rebuild from scratch, but the trick was to maintain the architectural integrity of the home,” Lorenzo said.
Outside, a commercial grade summer kitchen is equipped to handle “private chef experiences” and events.
“The glamor and sophistication of the 1920s era is long gone. It has been [replaced] by gaudy, over-the-top displays of money,” Lorenzo said, adding that the estate represents an “understated elegance” and that his intention in renovating and reimagining the estate was to bring it back to that “long gone era.”
While the rental price is a Hollywood Hills record ask, affluent Bel-Air and Beverly Hills have had higher rental prices.
For example, in 2019, 908 Bel Air asked $1.5 million a month; it’s now on the market for $99 million. It was initially asking $180 million.
