People have been talking about “THE wedding” well before he ever proposed.
So will Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce tie the knot at Madison Square Garden?
The speculation is hitting a fever pitch.
Last week, NBC News reported that a source said that the venue was preparing for a major event the July 2-4 weekend. A source with knowledge of the matter, who is among the invitees, now tells NBC News that 1,100 people are expected to attend the Swift-Kelce wedding festivities at MSG on Friday, July 3.
That invitee told NBC News that invitees were sent non-disclosure agreements along with electronic invitations. The person also said multiple performances are expected from various artists.
Previously, a spokesperson for Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s office confirmed the existence of an event permit for the area around Madison Square Garden between July 2 and July 4.
According to that spokesperson, the permit requests a crowd size between 500 and 999 people. The permit also requests a tent and street closures around The Garden.
The Mamdani administration declined to say who filed the permit.
Asked over the weekend at MSG, some workers say they were working “the event,” while others said they weren’t.
Rumors have been flying ahead of the couple’s nuptials, which is sure to be one of the most closely-watched wedding events in recent years. Reports of a possible ceremony in Rhode Island earlier this month proved unfounded, but triggered a fresh wave of speculation.
The New York Times, which first reported the existence of a permit last week, had additional sources that said multiple members of the Kansas City Chiefs booked hotel rooms in Manhattan for that weekend.
If Swift and Kelce, in fact, are planning a wedding at MSG this weekend, they will be part of an already busy one for the city. New York, already bustling with World Cup tourists, is hosting a flotilla of tall ships on July 4 in addition to the annual holiday fireworks show in celebration of the country’s 250th birthday.
