Authorities are investigating a grisly discovery at an under-construction public school in Queens.

A body was found in a chimney at P/S./ I.S. 113 Anthony J. Pranzo in Glendale after a janitor smelled something pungent coming from there and called an exterminator, according to a law enforcement source.

The exterminator opened the ash dump and found a shoe, the source says. Then, he felt a foot.

That’s when they called the cops.

Police say they got word of the incident just before 9 a.m. Tuesday.

The 2025-26 academic year ended last week for New York City public schools. There were no students or school staff in the building at the time of the discovery, the law enforcement source said.

It wasn’t immediately clear if there were students in the building last week. News 4 has reached out to the Department of Education for comment.

The medical examiner’s office will determine how the person died. It’s not clear how long the body may have been in the chimney.
