Members Only: Palm Beach star Gale Brophy is reclaiming her title as the Queen of Palm Beach after her recently-appointed successor, Rosalyn Yellin, was allegedly acting inappropriately on social media.

In the Netflix show, which dropped in eight parts last month, Brophy passed a literal baton to Yellin to take over her work as the Queen of Palm Beach. But now, a month after their love fest aired on the streamer, Brophy is taking her crown back because, according to the socialite, she saw Yellin and some of her other co-stars “mocking” the importance of her title in a Instagram Live over the weekend.

Per Brophy, the video shows Yellin, Ro-Mina Ustayev, and Maria Cozamanis each wearing crowns, while using their batons in an unbecoming manor. While their actions may seem innocuous to viewers, Brophy was not happy to see Yellin spank Cozamanis with her baton, as well as use the prop as a horn, which, in Brophy’s eyes, felt like she was mimicking a sexual act.

“They took the baton, and they’re blowing with it, and they’re doing some graphic things,” Brophy told DECIDER when she stopped by our studio. “I’m real Palm Beach. I’ve been there for 40 years. These girls don’t live in Palm Beach other than Hilary [Musser]. Other than Hilary and I, they’re in Miami, Boca, Highland. I take it very personally.”

“They all wore crowns, and they were all playing with the baton in their mouths. And in other places, doing things that are just inappropriate,” Brophy added.

While Yellin has been stripped of her title, Brophy is still hopeful that they will remain friends.

“I hope that our friendship will continue, because I really care about her. I really think she’s an incredible, wonderful young woman,” she said. “But I am taking back my crown and I will find, hopefully, someone who is worthy of sharing events again because we need younger girls.”

Brophy went on about the importance of working charities in Palm Beach, noting that she and other real Palm Beachers are there “to serve” those less fortunate. While she has spent years on the boards of Red Cross and Feeding the Hungry, to name a couple, she said she’s at a point in her life that she would rather be the “honorary chair,” rather than do all of the event planning.

Despite losing Yellin as her successor in the Palm Beach social and charity scene, she said there is still hope for Yellin to step back into the role in the future (Season 2, perhaps?).

Confidently declaring that she “will” find someone to take over the prestige position, Brophy admitted, “I actually hope Rosalyn can still be that successor. She’s a great lady and someone that I think the world of. But it was just very distasteful.”
