The Justin Fields experiment is officially over with the Jets.

The team traded Fields to the Chiefs on Monday morning after one disastrous season in which he was benched for veteran Tyrod Taylor.

The move is a late-round pick swap for future draft picks.

The 27-year-old Fields, who signed a two-year, $40 million deal with the Jets last offseason, will now slide in behind Patrick Mahomes as the Chiefs backup.

That comes with more added responsibility than usual with Mahomes recovering from a torn ACL and it is unclear if he will be ready for Week 1.

The Jets traded for Geno Smith earlier this offseason and he is currently in line to be the team’s starting QB.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
