Patrick Dempsey is back on network television with a role that is a far cry from the charming Dr. Shephard fans knew him as on Grey’s Anatomy.
Dempsey stars in the new FOX thriller Memory of a Killer as Angelo, a father, widower and copier salesman leading a double life as a hitman. Angelo is a family man living in a sleepy town in the Hudson Valley, but he covertly works as a contract killer hired out by his best friend and crime boss Dutch (Michael Imperioli) in New York City.
And that’s not the only secret he’s keeping. Angelo realizes his memory is slipping and he is beginning to exhibit symptoms of early-onset Alzheimer’s, which his brother also suffers from. But Angelo can’t risk letting those closest to him know the truth.
Memory of a Killer takes place between the Hudson Valley and New York City, where many of Angelo’s hits take place and Dutch’s restaurant is located. But where was Memory of a Killer filmed?
Where is Memory of a Killer filmed?
According to IMDb, Memory of a Killer was filmed between August and December 2025. IMDb lists New York City and Cooperstown, New York, as filming locations, but it appears the show was mainly filmed in Toronto, Ontario, where local businesses were transformed to look like New York City and Hudson Springs, the town where Angelo lives.
Production was spotted filming at Brick Street Bakery in Toronto in October. According to local reports, the show also filmed in the Upper Beaches neighborhood of Toronto and around Malvern Collegiate Institute. Filming also took place on Pickering Street, Balsam Avenue and Lyall Avenue in Toronto.
As for Hudson Springs, certain scenes appeared to be filmed in the historic downtown area of Port Perry in Scugog, Ontario, according to a video from a local business.
