A private remote island with just one off-grid cabin and an array of wildlife is being sold at auction for $468,844.
Mullagrach Island is the northernmost of the Scottish Summer Isles, located at the mouth of Loch Broom, and spans approximately 88.7 acres.
It lies in the Wester Ross Marine Protected Area and forms part of Scotland’s first UNESCO Geopark.
At the heart of the island sits an off-grid cabin, which draws its power from solar panels and is set up to allow rainwater harvesting and composting.
From the sea view windows, the island’s rugged landscape of heather, rocky beaches, caves, and cliffs is visible.
The island is accessible by boat from the harbours at Ullapool and Old Dornie, and hosts a dedicated landing stage and mooring.
Mullagrach Island is set to be offered at auction on 9 June, with a guide price of $468,844.
Mhairi Archibald, Associate Director, Savills Auctions, says: “We’re seeing good levels of demand for truly unique assets coming to auction, and private islands often capture the imagination.
“The sale of Mullagrach presents a compelling opportunity for buyers seeking something genuinely rare.
“With its scale, setting, and ready-to-enjoy accommodation, we expect significant interest ahead of the sale.”
Iona Conn, Associate Director, Savills Residential, adds: “Private islands offer a unique sense of peace and connection to the landscape, and opportunities to acquire them remain limited.
“Mullagrach is particularly appealing in combining that sense of seclusion with a setting that is both accessible and ready to enjoy.”
