Cast: Sally Field, Lewis Pullman, Colm Meaney, and Alfred Molina
Why We’re Hyped: The best-selling 2022 mystery novel by Shelby Van Pelt will soon be a Netflix movie starring Sally Field, and we can’t wait to watch it and cry our eyes out. The adaptation is directed by Olivia Newman (Where the Crawdads Sing), who also co-wrote the script with John Whittington. Oscar-winner Sally Field stars as Tova Sullivan, a 70-year old-widow who cleans a aquarium at night and befriends a giant octopus. The best part? That octopus is voiced by none other than Dr. Octopus himself, Alfred Molina. The book was a wild success, and we have a feeling the film will be, too. -
Release Date: May 22
Cast: Sacha Baron Cohen, Rosamund Pike, Richard E. Grant, Emily Mortimer, Charles Dance, Fiona Shaw, Tom Davis and Kathryn Hunter.
Why We’re Hyped: English director Thea Sharrock has a comedy coming to Netflix that is sure to ruffle a few feathers: A movie where a sexist man (played by Sacha Baron Cohen) wakes up in a world where women hold all the power. We’re going to avoid the comments section on the trailer for this one, but we can’t wait to watch Oscar-nominated actor Rosamund Pike go head-to-head with Cohen. -

Cast: Jennifer Lopez, Brett Goldstein, Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford
Why We’re Hyped: Ted Lasso heartthrob Brett Goldstein is going all in on his romantic comedy career. Last year, he wrote and starred in the romance All of You for Apple TV+, and now he’s turning to Netflix for a new romantic comedy that he co-wrote with Joe Kelly, and will star in. The best part? He managed to snag Jennifer Lopez as his lead. Directed by Ol Parker (Imagine Me & You, Ticket to Paradise), Office Romance‘s log line promises a “raunchy romantic comedy” about two workaholics who are secretly hooking up, and we’re so ready for those JLo and BGold sex scenes. -

Cast: Millie Bobby Brown, Louis Partridge, Himesh Patel, Henry Cavill, and Helena Bonham Carter
Why We’re Hyped: While you’re mourning the end of Stranger Things, you can take comfort in the fact that Millie Bobby Brown will be back on your Netflix screen soon in the third Enola Holmes movie. Brown will once again star as Enola, the younger sister of the world-famous detective Sherlock Holmes (played by Henry Cavill). These days, Enola has her own detective agency, and this time around her work takes her to Malta, where her professional work will collide with her relationship with the dreamy Lord Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge). The first two films were fun, coming-of-age adventures, and we’re excited to see what the third film has in store. -

Cast: Kevin Hart, Marcello Hernández, Mason Gooding, Kam Patterson, Ben Marshall, Kevin Dunn, Zach Cherry, Teyana Taylor and Andy Garcia
Why We’re Hyped: While I don’t expect the new Kevin Hart comedy coming to Netflix next year to be good, exactly, hopefully it’ll at least be a fun romp. The premise? Kevin Hart gets added to a group chat for a bachelor’s party by accident. Though he’s old enough to be their dad, he decides to tag along with the guys. The supporting cast is promising, including current Saturday Night Live players Marcello Hernandez, Ben Marshall, and Kam Patterson; Mason Gooding, who’s proved himself a stand-out comedic actor the recent Scream films; recent Oscar-nominee Teyana Taylor; and Severance fan-favorite Zach Cherry. -

Cast: Sunny Sandler, Melanie Lynskey, Max Greenfield, Stephanie Beatriz, Bebe Neuwirth, Steve Buscemi
Why We’re Hyped: It seems Adam Sandler will never stop casting his daughters in his movies, and we’re not complaining, because they are both delightful. The next movie from Sandler’s Happy Madison productions for Netflix will be a musical starring Sunny Sandler (the youngest Sandler daughter) as a high school theater kid prepping to play the lead in the school’s next big show. It sounds like the Sandler version of High School Musical, and we’re very much here for that. -

Cast: Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, Adam Scott, Hamish Linklater, Owen Teague
Why We’re Hyped: The New York Times bestseller crime novel, The Whisper Man by Alex North, is soon to be a Netflix movie co-starring Robert De Niro and Adam Scott as a father-and-son caught up in a small town serial killer investigation, after Adam Scott’s on-screen son gets kidnapped. The film is an AGBO production, and while we haven’t been too impressed with the Russo Brothers-produced Netflix films of the past (The Electric State, Extraction, and The Gray Man), it’s hard to deny a dynamic duo like De Niro and Ben Wyatt.
