And you thought the line was long to get into Madison Square Garden.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani announced Thursday that Brooklyn-based Mazzi Sports was creating special limited-edition NYC World Cup jerseys for $50. That’s about a third of the price of authentic World Cup jerseys.

The jerseys went on sale at the Centre Street City Store, in person only, on Friday morning.

Lines wrapped around for blocks. And blocks. Mamdani had said there would be 1,500 jerseys available. More than 1,000 were still waiting outside when those were about gone. Chopper 4 showed a busy scene.

The jerseys come in three color schemes: black and white, yellow and black, and orange and blue, and feature a soccer ball–Big Apple hybrid badge on the left chest and a pigeon badge on the right.

Each includes a “NEW YORK CITY” wordmark on the front and “26” on the back.

They’re already popping up on the secondary market for six times the sale price.

Mamdani said the 1,500 locally designed and made jerseys are meant to give New Yorkers an affordable way to show city pride as the 2026 FIFA World Cup ramps up. The jerseys are part of a broader push that has also included $50 ticket lotteries and free watch parties across the city, the city says.
