For the first time in eight years, LeBron James is a free agent.
James has been the center of conversations on Tuesday; it appears multiple professional sports teams have taken a shot at trying to recruit him to come play for them.
The Green Bay Packers posted at 11:30 AM today, “Heard he’s a free agent,” featuring James’ headshot while photoshopped in a Packers jersey.
Like the Packers, the Buffalo Bills also got in on the fun by posting a similar photo of James but wearing a Bills jersey and a caption that read “Never say never.”
The Jacksonville Jaguars also made a post, reposting ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania when he broke the news that “LeBron James will continue his NBA career for the 2026-27 season and has informed the Los Angeles Lakers that the franchise can move on without him because he will play elsewhere, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul tells ESPN.”
The Jaguars’ repost featured Squidward from SpongeBob, wearing a Jaguars hat, pointing at the word “Jaguar.”
Before James was an NBA player, he was heavily recruited as a wide receiver by multiple Division 1 programs, including Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Alabama.
Given James’ 6-foot-8 frame and weighing 250 pounds, he certainly has the measureables to be able to play football, but as he is set to turn 42 later this year, any potential dreams of him playing in the NFL might be behind him.
Outside of football, James was also receiving recruitment offers from the New York Yankees ‘ Double-A affiliate, the Somerset Patriots, as the club posted a photo of James wearing one of their jerseys and a caption that read “THE DECISION,” referring back to James’ infamous free agency in 2010 when he announced he would be playing for the Miami Heat.

The San Diego Padres low-A ball affiliate, the Lake Elsinore Storm, got in the action by insisting James would be joining their team, so that he can “surpass Michael Jordan’s career .202 batting average,” poking fun at Jordan and James as the two have been compared to one another through James’ 23-year career.
San Francisco Giants triple-A affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats made their pitch to James by posting a photo of him in one of their uniforms, with the caption “Welcome to the 916, LeBron!”
