Long before Russell Brand became one of Britain’s most recognizable exports — comic, actor, provocateur and now unlikely born-again Christian — a quiet stretch of Florida’s Gulf Coast was already doing what it does best: offering wealthy, high-profile people a place to reinvent themselves inside something that looks like an ordinary life.

Brand, 50, is the latest celebrity to discover Scenic Highway 30A, the winding coastal corridor along Florida’s Emerald Coast that locals and luxury brokers have taken to calling the Hamptons of the South.

In late 2024, he relocated his wife Laura, 38, a lifestyle blogger and author, and their three children from rural Oxfordshire to a four-bedroom waterfront carriage house in Santa Rosa Beach.

The property last sold for $2.5 million in April 2025, set on nearly an acre of Gulf-adjacent land in one of the most quietly expensive ZIP codes in the American South.

Country music star Luke Bryan, actor Vince Vaughn, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, singer Jason Aldean, NFL quarterback Cam Newton and former Saints head coach Sean Payton all have ties to the area.

That balance is the market’s defining feature. Luxury beachfront estates along the corridor now regularly trade between $8 million and $16 million.

The born-again Christian, who was publicly baptized in London’s River Thames in 2024 and has since built a second career around faith, family and conservative media commentary, has embedded himself into the fabric of a deeply church-centered, privacy-minded community where luxury beachfront estates trade between $8 million and $16 million. Median home prices in parts of 30A exceed $1.5 million, driven by a steady pipeline of affluent second-home buyers, corporate executives and entertainers who have concluded that sugar-white beaches and emerald Gulf waters are a more than adequate substitute for the Hamptons — at a fraction of the social exposure.

Nearby Inlet Beach carries an average home price of $1.7 million. Walton County, which encompasses much of the corridor, ranks among the fastest-growing counties in Florida, and the broader Santa Rosa Beach market lists homes with a median asking price around $1.2 million.

For Brand, the draw goes well beyond real estate. The Florida Panhandle is ruby-red conservative, church-centered and culturally closer to Trumpworld than to the Hollywood machine he left behind.

He was baptized in London’s River Thames in April 2024 by Bear Grylls alongside an Anglican minister, and has since constructed an entire second act around faith, family and anti-establishment media commentary, broadcasting to millions on YouTube and Rumble.

His book, “How to Become a Christian in Seven Days,” published through Tucker Carlson’s imprint, has found a receptive audience among conservative converts and MAGA-adjacent influencers including Carlson, Donald Trump Jr. and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

On the ground in Santa Rosa Beach, he has thrown himself into the community with the same intensity he once brought to stand-up stages.

He preaches at local churches, performs baptisms in the Gulf of America and cycles through gated neighborhoods calling out blessings to strangers. Residents say the energy is genuine.

“Everyone loves Russell down here. This is a guy who turned his life around and has just become a real part of the community,” a longtime Santa Rosa Beach resident told The Post.

The backdrop to his fresh start, however, is complicated. Brand faces trial in London this October over allegations that he raped, assaulted and groped six women between 1999 and 2009 — accusations that have followed him across the Atlantic and that he has repeatedly and firmly denied.

“I was a fool before I lived in the light of the Lord,” he wrote in an April 2025 social media post. “I was a drug addict, a sex addict and an imbecile. But what I never was was a rapist. I’ve never engaged in non-consensual activity.”

It is a remarkable turn for a man who once made his reputation on chaos. During the height of his fame in the 2000s, Brand was the self-described sex addict and recovering heroin user that British tabloid The Sun immortalized as “Shagger of the Year.”

American audiences knew him primarily as the eccentric British comic from “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Get Him to the Greek,” or as Katy Perry’s briefly-wed ex-husband.
