Billy Eichner was enchanted to meet Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce — even though the legendary NFL player messed up his name.
On Monday night’s (May 4) episode of Watch What Happens Live, Eichner—who hosts the comedy game show Billy on the Street—shared that he first met the engaged couple at Madonna’s Oscars party a couple of years ago.
“Travis came up to me, which was shocking. I don’t know them. I know who they are,” Eichner recalled of the famous pair. “And he said, ‘Jimmy on the Street! I love you, man!’ He was beaming when he said it, and I couldn’t bring myself to correct him.”
“He’s Travis Kelce. He’s, like, eight feet tall. Taylor Swift is standing right there,” Eichner continued. “I’m not gonna be like, ‘Actually, it’s Billy.’ I was just happy about it.”
Eichner publicly spoke about the incident for the first time during a December 2024 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which Kelce seemed to be watching because, when they reunited at Madonna’s Oscar party earlier this year, the Super Bowl winner apologized for flubbing his name upon their first meeting.
Per the comedian, Kelce “came right up” to him at this year’s party. “I was like, ‘I’m not gonna bother him again, we had our moment, it was very funny,’” Eichner said. “He came up to me and he was like, ‘I have to apologize. I called you Jimmy.’ I was like, ‘No, Travis. It was the best story ever.’”
Eichner said he even invited Kelce to do an episode of Billy on the Street with him, before adding, “Hopefully that happens.”
Kelce, of course, has a busy year coming up. Not only is he entering is 14th season with the Kansas City Chiefs, but he and Swift are also planning their impending nuptials. While details have been kept rather hush-hush, reports claim they are tying the knot on July 3 in New York City, giving them plenty of time to enjoy being newlyweds before Kelce has to ship out for training camp.
